There are times when I wish I had a transporter...

You know.. like in star trek?
So.. first things first.

FC Dallas 1 Houston 0 !!!!!!! Here is my souvenir of the night...

For those who don't know.. this is Denilson. He's been capped for Brazil 61 times and was a part of the world cup winning squad in 2002.

So the next leg of the journey is this Friday in Houston. We win there and then we are on to the conference finals!! So... back to the request for a transporter. I so want to be at that game.

Weekend plans anyone???

I'm excited about mine! Can you guess what we'll be doing? Does it have anything to do with Soccer? FC Dallas maybe? A babysitter for the rugrats??? You got it. It's the first day of the playoffs on Saturday night. Nathan and I have joined up with a group of supporters in a new-formed group called Los Toros (If there are any closet FC Dallas fans reading this, please join us!)

We've got the streamers and confetti ready and we're on for a tailgate! :) Now.. the big question.. do we bring the mullet wigs or not??? Decisions, decisions...

Clothing Rut

Yup, that's me. I'm in a clothing rut. I always wear a tshirt and jeans. Usually I wear a baggy shirt. I need to find some clothes that fit well and will last. I lost all my weight, got the gut fixed and I want to feel good. Too bad they don't make shirts for women who have amazon shoulders and reasonably sized arms. I'm a size 4 on the bottom but vary between a M and L on the top. Can What Not to Wear just come and visit me please???? (or can I have a shopping buddy volunteer?)

My little Perfect 10 - more news on the gymnastic front.

Just when you think there's been enough gymnastics - there is more. Morgan was asked yesterday to join the level 5 team. We're very proud of her and are looking forward to seeing routines that include the HIGH bar! oooohhhh aaaahhhhh....

A new Gym Record!!!!

Last night Morgan beat the gym record on the floor by earning a 9.65!!!!!! She started out the year with a 7.3 at a mock meet so you can imagine how proud we are of her! She also made her personal best of a 37.125 in the all around. She got an 9.55 on Vault, a 9.2 on bars and an 8.7 on the beam. That girl has monkey feet, I swear!! She almost fell of the beam a few times and gripped that thing like crazy. The parents were joking that her and the beam are TIGHT :)

Night and Day

I know that Morgan and Maya don't really look like sisters. Yesterday it occured to me how different they really are.

Maya was watching the The Phantom Menace Star Wars movie with her daddy. (not my choice of movie, but hey.. it's PG, right?) They were going through the fight sequence where Obi Wan kills Darth Maul. Morgan would have had her face in a pillow, scared to death. Maya's reaction was quite different. As soon as Obi Wan finished him off, Maya screams "YES!" Hilarious.

Happy 37th Birthday Nathan!!!!

I still love this man. More than ever. Even with his new affinity for mullets.

This is what he got for his birthday. I wanted it.. but it's not my birthday.
For non soccer fans.. it's a Manchester United jacket.

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree.

Toja Forever!!!

Where did my weekend go? Can I have it back, please?

Random thoughts...

Saturday morning was taken from around 8 - 1 with a gymnastics meet. The rest of the day was spent cleaning, running errands and watching some of a soccer game on Tv... Sunday... where did it go???

Oh and I have another kid... finally a boy. Too bad he's older than me.

Lesson from Nola

I have heard a story about Spencer W. Kimball many times and how he comforted a woman in an airport when no one else would. I always want to be the kind of person who picks up on those situations and lends a helping hand.

There is a woman who I used to attend church with. She is one of those people you aspire to be like... she has 6 daughters, is active with all forms of service, is always kind and is obviously living her life to the fullest. I ran into her at the store tonight and talked to her very briefly. I saw her again at the check out.

There was a woman who had a screaming child. I've been that woman. We've all seen that woman. The little boy was obviously tired. Everyone was staring at her and making comments under their breath. I was racking my brain trying to think of a way to at least let her know that I understood and wasn't judging her when I see Nola out of the corner of my eye, handing the little boy a small compact mirror to play with. He suddenly got quiet and his mother was able to get her groceries and leave the store. Nola patted her shoulder understandingly and told her that he was tired and she understood. The woman's look of relief was amazing. The next time that happens, I plan to follow Nola's example.

And just so you don't think I've lost my addiction...

FC Dallas 3, Columbus Crew 1
We're through to the playoffs. Oh yeah baby.

Finally! Morgan's Baptism

My sister graciously emailed me photos of Morgan's baptism since our camera was suffering from dirty-lens disease and took horrible photos.

On September 29th at 6pm my oldest daughter was baptized. It was unlike any experience I have ever had. My youngest beast had been acting up and I missed quite a lot of the service due to her needy-ness. I was, however, able to witness Morgan's actual baptism and was honored to help her get ready afterwards. She looked at me in the eye and said, "Mom, am I really baptized?" I told her that she was and she started to cry. She told me that she was just so happy and that she felt like she had made the right choice. I hugged her tight, cried with her and told her how proud I was to be her mother, especially at a time like this.

I know that being a mother is along journey that never ends but there is a feeling of peace that comes from having a child baptized. It's like it's a stepping stone along the journey that you've come to and that you feel like you are at least headed in the right direction, if that makes any sense. I'm so proud of all of my girls. I just can't believe how well they've turned out in spite of such an imperfect mother. I'm truly blessed.

Here are a few more pics..
